The Doomsday clock visible at the top right of the screen monitors tension between nations and eventually allows for unleashing nuclear weapons. Researching and developing nuclear weapons takes place from the State Affairs panel, allowing you to upgrade your nuclear forces at the expense of Military Interests. Doomsday counter increases as global tension rises.
Nuclear development[edit | edit source]
|Nuclear Research||NUCLEAR ARSENAL: Production Enabled.
BOMBER COMMAND: gains Nuclear Strike capability. Strikes can be intercepted by enemy fighters from Fighter Commands or Carrier Fleets and requires complete air superiority in the target region to succeed.
|1945||1949||1||Nuclear production set to 0.1
Nuclear bomber range increased by 6400 (USA) and 5400 (USSR)
|Intercontinental Bomber||The intercontinental bombers main role is to carry nuclear weapons. With upgraded long-range propulsion engines, the operational range has increased by 1 regions. Though powerful, Fighter Commands and Carrier Fleets can potentially intercept incoming bombers.||1949||1955||2||Nuclear production: +0.1
Nuclear bomber range increased by 7200 (USA) and 7000 (USSR)
|Strategic Fighter-Bomber||Functioning as a fighter and a bomber, units can now deliver nuclear strikes. With new powerful jet engines, the operational range has increased by 3 regions. Fighter-bombers have a strong defense factor because of their air-to-air capabilities yet enemy Fighter Commands and Carrier Fleets can intercept them.||1953||1955,||2||Nuclear fighter and carrier fleet range increased by 5250|
|Ballistic Missile Attachment||Attach strategic missile squadrons with a range of 2 regions to Bomber Commands. Alongside the scrambled bombers, they will deliver a swift missile strike on enemy military capabilities. Enemy Fighter Commands or Carrier Fleets cannot intercept these missile strikes.||1957||1957||2,||Nuclear production: +0.3
Nuclear missile range increases range of nuclear bombers by 3500
|ICBM Attachment||Upgrade strategic missile squadrons attached to Bomber Commands with a range of 6 regions. Alongside the scrambled bombers, they will deliver a swift missile strike on enemy military capabilities. Enemy Fighter Commands or Carrier Fleets cannot intercept these long-range missile strikes.||1959||1959,||3,||Nuclear production: +0.2
Nuclear missile range increases range of nuclear bombers by 10500
|Ballistic Missile Submarine||The submarine fleets’ main role is to carry out a first, or a retaliatory strike on the enemy with nuclear weapons. Equipped with submerged launch capability, they are a powerful mobile missile platform. In addition, its emphasis on avoiding detection, submarines can hide and traverse through the Arctic.||1959||1960||3,||Nuclear production: +0.1
Enables nuclear submarines
|MIRV||Multiple Independently Targetable Reentry Vehicle or MIRV, upgrades all strategic missiles fired from Bomber Command’s Missile Attachments and Submarines Fleets. Each Missile launched from the ARSENAL will now separate into two powerful independent warheads at reentry. Targeting capabilities, guided by new computerized systems allow for accurate strikes.||1970||1970||5,||Nuclear production: +0.2.
